SAS APPLICATION: THERMOPLASTICS
GSG|SAS has diverse applications in the conventional plastics industry as a sustainable substitute for reinforcing agents.
It can also be used in higher value adding processes such as in the fabrication of robust and thermally stable super hydrophobic nanocomposite coatings.
For instance, Polyurethane is naturally hydropholic and can be super hydrophobic through the partial substitution, 10-20% with GSG|SAS of the pure SiO2 nano-coating.
Example of industrial nano-coating:
Sample (a) demonstrates a non-nano-coated surface. Sample (b) demonstrates a surface coated in SiO2 and exhibiting hydrophobic properties.
